I got myself two lenses for the new XTi, one of them a 50mm prime lens (i.e. no zoom) which is fast enough to take photos without flash and allows for nice depth of field. It’s best at portraits, but you would need to log in to see those.

Some of the photos are from our Christmas day dinner. We made a goose stuffed with apples, which I have always heard of in Russia as if it was a traditional Xmas/New Year’s eve meal, but I don’t think I have actually ever had it in Russia. It came out reasonably well. The carrots in the top row is Arthur’s recipe – carrots boiled in water with some extra sugar. (People begged me for the recipe during the dinner, but there is little beyond the trick of adding sugar.)
